i know atlanta is only 11-11, but they got finally healthy and it's great to finally see this team healthy. when their full roster is available(need bogdanović and hunter to stay healthy or bench gets kinda ugly quick), i think they have the ability to compete with anyone.

the atlanta hawks aren't exactly my team but they've been in my rotation of teams that i go out of my way to watch because of trae young and how interesting they are.
and 2024-25 atlanta is certainly my most intriguing watch in recent memory. the tandem backcourt of an all offence trae young and all defence dyson daniels is super intriguing, and seeing the progression of jalen johnson is such a treat to watch.

so. . . this season team hawks are literally trae young and a bunch of athletic wings.

they have young, fast, long, and athletic wings in jalen johnson, de'andre hunter, dyson daniels, and '24 1st pick zaccharie risacher.

all of which are at least 6'8 that are with defensive skills and developing offensively. the perimetre trio of daniels/rishache/johnson is the most compelling thing atlanta has had in awhile. got the size you want in important matchups and most importantly, they're aged 21/19/22.
lots of youth, rim running, and length on this hawks team, yes i do see the vision here.

team defence looks fairly solid, which is by far the most noticeable. hawks.. playing defence?
yes. there's been real effort all over the roster, and the atlanta hawks currently have an average nba defence indeed, who are ranked 16th in defence whereas 27th last year. respect daniels and thanks daniels for the 11 place bump. oh and of course risacher, very impressive for a 19 year old rookie who's been showing a lot of potential defensively already. it's unreal how good he is at his age understanding the game.

the hawks lowkey got a squad?! gm landry fields might've put together a squad for real. go trade to see if you can upgrade at centre though. need a young rim protector on the team, and i wonder if the hawks could trade for walker kessler. he would be a perfect fit but the jazz are probably asking a lot.
bench unit is good, they are one of the deepest teams in the league. i personally think nance jr should be getting good minutes off the bench. mathews deserves more playing time too.

hawks are 8-3 when he plays
hawks are 6-0 when he scores 20+
hawks are 7-0 when he scores 15+
hunter off the bench this year is a different monster. i really hope his knees continue to hold up so he can keep this up this time.

jalen johnson and dyson daniels are the wing/guard duo trae young has been waiting for. if risacher can develop and the bench unit continues to take positive strides, this team is seriously gonna be dangerous really soon.
yet i'm not gassing this team until trae young starts shooting and scoring right again. his shooting this season is abysmal, but it may be a blessing in disguise. this version of atlanta where young is prioritizing playmaking and setting up his teammates rather than trying to be a hero is the version that will take them far. of course the team needs him to get his shot going, so if they can get young's achilles healed, and so as soon as he refigures out how to consistently score the basketball then they good.

(not) sorry to have to break it to you but the atlanta hawks basketball team has a way of disappointing you just when you think that they maybe figured it out. let's see if they can beat a team that they should beat. i very would love to see them break for good the tendency to lose to under .500 teams while beating the giants.

this is in fact embarrassing. hopefully washington beats somebody because i'm tired of being the only 2 wins of the worst team in the league.

love what they're building and am pleasantly surprised & happy with where they're headed. gotta stay relatively healthy, and play more consistent against all competition. once they learn to play consistently good basketball, i got this team going up against anybody and i genuinely mean that.

i do believe the hawks could be a real dark horse in the east.

is this even a real thing? why is this my first time hearing about this award? i knew player of the month has been happening forever but wasn't aware there was a defensive player of the month.

oh this is a brand new! literally the first time they've given this out? i don't think anyone candidly even knew they were doing the defensive one until today.
defensive effort normally goes unnoticed however brilliant it is, so i'm glad he's getting national recognition and attention he deserves.

well deserved wembanyama and daniels. those two are gonna win this award a few times this year as well as in future years to come.

he has made an even bigger impact on his new team than i could've imagined. dude has almost singlehandedly raised/changed the dynamic of this hawks perimetre defence and they are playing the best defence they have in years.
dyson daniels is a phenomenal defender and he does so much on defence day in day out, and deserves all the credit and praise coming his way.
